🌸 THE POSTNATAL PERIOD DOESN’T END AT 6 WEEKS 🌸

Somewhere along the way, we started treating 6 weeks postpartum like a finish line.

But it isn’t.

In fact, Australian Government guidance recognises the postnatal period as extending to 12 months after birth.

And the first 12 weeks are often referred to as the “fourth trimester” — a time of enormous physical, emotional and practical adjustment for both mum and baby. 🤍

The Australian Government’s Pregnancy, Birth and Baby service also says that it can take 6 weeks or longer for your body to recover from pregnancy and childbirth — and if there were complications, recovery can take longer. (Pregnancy Birth Baby⁠)

So what does this mean?

✨ You can still be postnatal at 3 months.
✨ You can still be recovering at 6 months.
✨ You can still need support at 9 or 12 months.
✨ You don’t have to be “back to normal” at 6 weeks.
✨ And needing help doesn’t mean you’re failing.

Six weeks is commonly when you have your postnatal check — it is not a deadline for recovery, adjustment or needing support. (Pregnancy Birth Baby⁠)

Your body has grown and birthed a baby.

Your hormones have changed.

Your sleep has probably been completely disrupted.

You may be learning to breastfeed or bottle feed.

• Declined items must be collected within 7 days or they will become a donation
• Fast fashion brands (Anko, Baby Berry, Dimples etc.) will be accepted by donation only
• Premium brands such as Seed, Snuggle Hunny, Indigo Dreams, Little & Fern, Ziggy Lou, Country Road and more will be appraised at our 25% rate
